Course syllabus

  1. Step 1 · Lesson

    What Is Generative AI?

This lesson defines generative AI as artificial intelligence that produces original content rather than only analysing existing data. It explains the difference between systems that classify, predict, or analyse information and systems that generate new outputs such as text, images, code, summaries, creative ideas, and visual concepts.

  2. Step 2 · Lesson

Types of Content Generative AI Can Create

This lesson surveys the main forms of AI-generated content used in business, including text, images, music, audio, video, code, structured outputs, productivity tools, and business documents. It also introduces familiar examples such as ChatGPT and image generation models, showing how different tools are suited to different content tasks.

  3. Step 3 · Lesson

How Generative AI Works at a High Level

This lesson introduces the core concepts behind generative AI, including models, prompts, context, and outputs. It provides simple, non-technical explanations of how image generation approaches such as GANs and diffusion models can create visual content, while keeping the focus on what business users need to understand.

  4. Step 4 · Lesson

    Prompts, Context, and Output Quality

This lesson explains how prompts affect the quality, relevance, and usefulness of generated outputs. Learners will consider how clear instructions, examples, constraints, audience details, and business context can improve results, while poor context can lead to vague, inaccurate, or overconfident responses.

  5. Step 5 · Lesson

Business Use Cases for Generative AI

This lesson explores practical applications of generative AI across business functions, including marketing copy, internal SOPs, customer personas, knowledge summaries, research support, dashboards, brainstorming, document drafting, training content, and visual brand exploration. It focuses on where generative AI can save time, scale work, support creativity, and improve productivity without replacing human judgement.

  6. Step 6 · Lesson

    Benefits, Limitations, and Responsible Use

This lesson covers the main benefits of generative AI, including speed, scale, creativity, productivity, and personalisation, alongside limitations such as hallucinations, bias, outdated information, poor context, overconfidence, and privacy risks. Learners will be introduced to responsible practices including verifying outputs, protecting sensitive data, disclosing AI use where appropriate, and keeping humans in the loop for important decisions.

  7. Step 7 · Assessment

    Generative AI Fundamentals Assessment

Final assessment for the course Generative AI: Fundamentals for Business Use. This assessment checks understanding of what generative AI is, the types of content it can create, how prompts and context affect output quality, and why human review remains important.

  8. Step 8 · Credential · Optional

    Generative AI Fundamentals Completion Badge

Awarded when the learner completes all six lessons and achieves at least 80% in the final assessment.
